I. General
We, sportsnation.net GmbH, Bösch 71, CH-6331 Hünenberg, Switzerland, (“sports-wiki.net“ in the following), as the providers of the Internet services available at the address www.sports-wiki.net, take the protection of your personal data very seriously and strictly adhere to the provisions of the data protection laws. The following declaration gives you an overview as to how we ensure this protection. In particular, we would like to explain to you as a visitor to our website, subscriber to our newsletters, holder of a user account and author of contributions on sports-wiki.net, what type of data we collect, why we collect these data, how we use these data and how you can decide about the handling of your personal data at any time.
II. Surfing on this Internet site
sports-wiki.net collects and automatically stores information in its server log files that your browser leaves when you surf on our site.
Examples of information that we collect and analyze include the Internet Protocol (IP) address which connects your computer to the Internet, notices of receipt and reading acknowledgments of e-mails, logins, e-mail addresses, passwords, information on the computer and connection to the Internet such as, for instance, browser type, version and number, operating system and platform, and your visitor history, which we sometimes combine with similar information on other visitors and reproduce in non-personally identifiable form in features like Top Contents.
Furthermore, we collect the complete Uniform Resource Locators (URL) clickstream in anonymous form across and from our website, i.e., the sequence of the pages of our Internet offer that you visit, including date and time, cookie or flash-cookie number, the contents you viewed or searched for.
During your visits, we sometimes use JavaScript to gather and evaluate information including the time needed to call up a web page, its flawed download, the duration of visit of a details page, information on the interaction between pages (e.g., scrolling, clicking, mouse-overs) and on quitting the page.
In short, this is the principal data we store:
browser type/version
operating system used
referrer URL (the previously visited page)
host name of the accessing computer (IP address)
time of server request
visitor history
It is not possible for us to trace any of this data back to particular persons. The combination of these data with other data sources is not carried out and, in addition, the data are deleted after statistical evaluation.
III. Cookies
Our Internet pages use what is known as cookies at several locations. They are intended to make our offer more user-friendly, more effective and safer. Cookies are small text files which are either temporarily stored in the working memory (RAM) of your computer ("session cookies") or on the hard disk ("permanent cookies“). Cookies do not cause any damage to your computer, and contain no viruses.
Most of the cookies that we use are “session cookies“. They are automatically erased after your visit. Session cookies are used, among other things, for login authentication and load balancing (balancing of the system load) purposes. We also use cookies when a user accesses the services of sports-wiki.net via an external advertising surface. These cookies do not contain any personal data about the user and are automatically erased when the user registers on a website of sports-wiki.net – otherwise they are automatically deleted after four weeks.
We use "permanent" cookies to trace back clickstreams and automatically distinguish whether a user has already used any services or seen an information notice or advertising campaign placed on the website – so that such is not displayed again at the next visit of the website.
If the service of sports-wiki.net is integrated in the website of a partner company, these partner companies may also use cookies on the particular integrated websites of the provider. We have no control over this, and are not responsible for the practices of these partner companies. We therefore recommend that you check the data protection policies of the respective partner
companies.
The help function on the menu bar of most web browsers will explain to you how to prevent your browser from accepting new cookies, how to have your browser alert you to any new cookies received, or how to disable all cookies received. However, you will only be able to fully use and experience some of the most interesting features at sports-wiki.net with cookies or flash cookies, which is why we recommend that you leave your cookie functions enabled. We further recommend that you always log off completely after using a computer which you share with other users, and which is set up to accept cookies and flash cookies.
